Drip Cafe (好滴)

Following our post mentioning about the super happening cafe near Songshan Cultural Park, we proudly present to you our very own run-down of the one and only Drip Cafe (好滴) in Taipei. Just opened in the middle of last year, Drip Cafe has been a very popular establishment in the cafe-spotting world of Taipei. To give clearer details, to have a booking there we need to reserve very early, as early as 1 month in advance for weekday slot or (take a deep breath) 3 months in advance for weekend slot!Another popularity cue is acknowledgement from locals. I tried to ask some local acquaintances if they know this cafe’s whereabouts (not simply their existence), and I was really “wow”ed by positive signs they gave. Well, to make long story short, before we moved on to the main focus here are some pictures, consider them introductions  😆

We had 1 pm reservation and upon reporting, we still needed to wait for about 10 mins. We were then seated at the front part of the cafe. The tables were quite closely arranged, but still the total capacity is considered not that many, thence long record of waiting list. As it was our first visit the waiter kindly explained that self-service is the system in place there. No harm though, meaning less service tax, aha!

We ordered quickly as there is time limit of 90 mins. Agreed to share 1 main and 1 dessert, as we weren’t quite sure about the portion. We were really tempted to order another plate of sandwich, but lucky we didn’t since we were really full afterwards. Good to have it in mind for our next visit 😛 For the main we picked Creamy kimchi pork from their list of pasta and of course for dessert their mighty cronuts! We also had some drinks: Kiwi ice slush and Mocha.

Now is the time of truth. I personally liked the pasta; it had a balanced combination of sour and creamy taste. But, it might taste even more superb if they put bacon instead of minced pork. He-he we are bacon-mania, you know! For the cronuts, hands down! Honestly! It tasted so damn good that I kinda regretted just ordering one, although if we had one each I definitely wouldn’t be able to finish it  – greedy me. You guys who like pastry or sweet dessert really-must-have to-ought to try this! Promise you won’t be disappointed. My Kiwi ice slush was freshly made and I could tell they made it from real kiwi – two thumbs up! However their mocha was not so great because it tasted more like just a cup of hot choco.

This was one of few times we felt really satisfied and happy after a meal. Adding up food taste and price tag, no wonder a lot of people made the effort to wait for their turns. Great food with reasonable damage – what more can we ask for?

..nothing else except when will our next visit be! Ssstt, we already made our next RSVP there (and of course planned next items from their menu to revel), kindly sit tight and wait for our additional review! Or if you can’t, just go on and prove it yourself!
