Haven’t you noticed the latest trend of latte art? It’s no longer simply a flat drawing of hearts, flowers, cute animals or cartoon characters, but it’s 3D now! Don’t you think it will be truly enhance our coffee time experience? If you agree, this post may be one possible reference 😉

On a uneventful week, we decided to just make a short trip down to Taichung to rest and calm our mind from hectic and crowded Taipei. We took a late morning high speed train for less than an hour; within a nap we can feel the warm air healing our soul (this is probably the most exaggerating clause I ever wrote, pardon me just once).

Without any break, we straightaway headed to 52 Cafe in West district of Taichung, where we heard that place is where 3D latte art trend started from. If you plan to take a bus there, be prepared to walk for about 10-15 minutes from the nearest stop. Of course taxi or motorcycle will be the most ideal option. However, we felt very pleased of the warm sunshine escorting us along the way, recalling how cold that time was in Taipei.

We had no idea if there will be a queue just like any cafe in Taipei, but unexpectedly only 3 tables were occupied thus we were seated and served just in a blink of an eye.

They provide a lot of drink selections; but our aim is for the 3D latte art. In the menu they merely list one item with 3D latte art picture attached, “小熊拉花熱拿鐵” (just like featured in all blogs reviewing them). When we asked them to confirm, yes they have only one kind of 3D latte art. We can order any drink with the bear 3D drawing with an extra (NTD 50).

We ordered their specialty (小熊拉花熱拿鐵) and Kahlua frappucino – yes my active partner really wished to drink this alcoholic coffee early in the afternoon 😆 We also picked two light food to share: Chocolate waffle and German sausage with mashed potato burger as they don’t offer more-lunch-appropriate meals.

Food and beverage were acceptable, yet still the slow ambience and relaxing atmosphere won our hearts most. Indeed, one’s mind can be fulfilled with a cup of ‘cute’ coffee on a day with good weather.
