With the crazily mushrooming trend of cafes and restaurants serving all-day brunch, it is a good sign of overall diet and culinary betterment for the city (can I claim this as my quote? 😆 ). Back to serious business. Clearly, this is current observance of Greater Taipei.
Having bored enough of hanging around the central of Taipei, we move to the western suburb of Banqiao. Here, the growth is very much as fast as that of Taipei city. Being easily reached from Taipei with addition of less Taipei inhabitants crowd, we kind of like to laze out and grab a bite there. Moreover yes, my partner is so familiar of the area too. However, be aware that you will need to spend about the same amount as brunch-ing in the city. 😥
Of course, still, the air felt differently. People were dressed more casually, more family groups were seen, and hence it went the same path with our concept of weekend lazy cafe-spotting.
The place itself offers a reasonably wide space. So, don’t be afraid you won’t get a seat or at least wait too long. However, all-day brunch items provided are so simple. They just come in 3 easy choices. Same proteins and fibres, different carbs: (a) croissant or (b) french toast; or if you prefer more proteins, (c) beef steak set.
We are not so much of a big eater in the morning (so we claimed 😛 ) thus we ordered (a) and (b). The brunch set comes with normal supply of tea/coffee and juice. The unique thing to be pointed out here in Found House is that they put a tea/coffee self-service corner where you can help yourself and better suit to your own drinking custom. And…the juice served were so much unalike if it was to be compared with the places we had prior brunches in; it was either diluted guava or appley melon juice.
Food were acceptable and its portion was reasonable too. I was very satisfied with the crunchiness of the croissant (it kind of reminded me of croissants in Japan hotel chain’s breakfast so much) and my partner finished his toast (meaning they should be fine). The proteins cover not only eggs, bacon and sausage, but also a piece of chicken breast. Note on this one, I personally was not fond of the chicken itself – it was simply too dry, even though they covered it with some mustardy sauce.
As the saying in front of the place goes “Great things are found here”, it is not a bad choice to go there and shove in those nice croissants!
