The Aroma (Aroma Coffee)

Have you guys been wondering if there is any community where foreigners in Taipei can meet-up and mingle with locals, at the same time exchanging language skills? There is one (that we’ve heard quite a lot before but only recently proved it does exist) in convenient area of Ximending!

Every Friday night, this cafe known as The Aroma organizes a language exchange activity. If you speak English and wish to learn Chinese or vice versa, this place will be a good option. How to join? Simply drop by on Fridays around 8.30PM, purchase a cup of beverage of your choice and voila, you’re good to go and join the conversations!

Of course, this post won’t be just about telling you the precious information about the language exchange. Learnt from somewhere that The Aroma has quite a bit of popularity known of their coffee, we finally got the chance to try it out. Not only coffee and tea, they provide snacks that you can choose over tea (or coffee) time but also heavier options like sandwich, salad, and baked pasta/rice.

We arrived there on a Saturday late afternoon intending to have light lunch cum coffee. A point to take from our visit is that they have a lot of events going on at random times (anyone can book their whole second floor for activities) so they’re left with just bar seats on the first floor that merely accommodate 5-6 people – we’re lucky to grab two of them! We guess it will be better to ring them first beforehand just to inquire if there is any event at the time of your intended visit so you won’t be disappointed.

As mentioned before, their menu is considered of wide varieties for cafes; more can be seen here.

We ordered 1/2 Sandwich + 1/2 Salad with selections of Spicy Tuna sandwich and Bacon Pasta salad as well as Pork in red sauce pasta bake (which came with a cute little pudding as dessert). As for the coffee I picked Hazelnut Latte and he dared to go with Mintastic Mocha (though when I tried, I personally feel it was a bit strong).

Their coffee was indeed pretty good and we would gladly recommend The Aroma for coffee-lovers to try!   😉
